Second stormchase of the season, into France, an area close to the Champagne region that usually have lots and easily developing storms, but not when we were there (oh well, not close). Smaller showers developed closer to home, like the one below, but they were not very active

We drove an hour south into France and stopped between Saint-Quentin and Laon, a region that often develops storms. We were awaiting a storm coming from the NE, but it collapsed. One of our members does 3D photography and needs a special set-up, which is hard to do in the dark in an unknown place. This was one of the reasons we decided to stick to our spot and capture the bolts further south, dispite the distance. We were hoping for more new storms to develop closer, but that didn't happen, and then it got to late and the main storm was heading for Paris, not exactly a good place to go chasing. As Murphy's law dictates: if you have a 360° free wiew, but one mobile phone pole, then lightning will hide itself behind that single pole. So it happened!
