A single but active lightning storm with little precipitation in a warm air mass, moving slowly north from France towards the Belgian border, only a few miles south. The lights in the distance on the slope are towns and streets in France, the foreground with tree and powerlines is in Belgium. |

Last rather close lightning strike. When it struck, I guess some 3 miles/5 km away, both Bart and me felt an electric tic on our arms and head. Not a single lightning followed this one, not even an IC or CC. The storm just ceased at once, and even rain was no more than just a few drops when it came over. Very abrupt stop, I guess it was the Belgian border? |

Even smaller crop. |
Detail at 100%! I love my 5D MkII with 24-70mm 2.8 combination! |
Timelapse from the 5D frame series. I had to move the camera which causes a change in composition. The speed is high, but this is to keep cloud movement natural. Shutter time was 15", about the frequency of lightning. That's why I have little frames and what causes the high speed. I did slow it down from 2 to 10 seconds. |
